Our TG College Basketball Finals Experience winner John Doyle treated his dad to the Experience of a lifetime over the weekend.
After applying to Ticket Galaxy's College Basketball Finals Experience weeks earlier, their very own Loyola Ramblers made it into the Final Four® as an 11 seed. Impossible? No. However, the odds were stacked against Loyola, and their performance in the tournament granted them the prime underdog and potential Cinderella story. Doyle's father graduated from Loyola, and the pair have been attending Loyola men's basketball games since he was a little kid. The family grew up in Chicago and carried their deep-rooted fandom to San Antonio for the 2018 Final Four®. "It was an amazing experience and a dream come true for my dad and I to be able to see our team in the Final Four, all thanks to [Ticket] Galaxy tickets!" said Doyle. Loyola lost 69-57 to #3 seed Michigan, but the team fended off the higher-ranked team for the majority of the game, only letting it slip with around ten minutes to spare in the second half. Loyola's team was the feel-good story of the tournament from their unexpected run to Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt’s attendance in a wheelchair at every game as a good luck charm. The pair attended the National Championship on Monday featuring Villanova vs. Michigan. Nova cleaned out Kansas during the following Final Four® game in mediocre excitement, and they did not disappoint in a 79-62 win over Michigan to win the 2018 National Championship title. These Experience are always exciting to offer from Ticket Galaxy, but when the basketball stars align just right to see an underdog team in the Finals, it's extra special to be able to give diehard fans the chance to watch the action unfold. Enough Rambler-ing. We'll see you next season. Apply to our TG College Basketball Experience and win 2 Men's Final Four® & National Championship tickets. Here are the 8 teams that advanced: 8 Teams to Watch For in March: Villanova Villanova is no surprise on this list, as they are marching into this year's madness as a leading team and as the 2016 National Champion. With a recent championship and consistency in the Top 10 this season, Villanova is a big dog in the game. However, don't count major teams as guarantees for any post-season tournament. Recently, Villanova fell to St. John's and Providence. Though both are solid Big East teams, the losses still looked poorly on a pretty flawless Wildcat resume. Villanova fell off of its #1 spot to #3 with the likelihood of dropping after the loss to Providence. Therefore, though the team is not to be disregarded, their strong hold is weakening and will need rejuvenation before March takes hold. Alabama Alabama is currently in the first 1/3 of the conference, but the team has silently put a handful of important wins under the Crimson Tide's belt. They are a silent mover in March. Unranked, Alabama is a surprising team to put in the "8 Teams to Watch For" category, as all of the others are ranked teams with an established season. However, Alabama has beaten Tennessee and Oklahoma. Though neither team is highly ranked, Oklahoma carries magnificent force Trae Young. Any team who is intelligent and quick enough to learn to contain Young earns a spot on the list. In addition, the school's football legacy speaks volumes, and the basketball program is hungry for a major win that would shift the spotlight. Oklahoma Oklahoma is going through a struggle period. They have lost a series of games recently, and their superstar player Trae Young is beginning to show cracks of weakness. However, this is not enough to keep them out of the Teams to Watch conversation, and it's certainly not enough to keep Young out of the Player of the Year conversation, as he still leads the nation in PPG with almost 30. Oklahoma and "The Trae Young Show"'s untouchable period might have come to an end, but don't let that stop you from putting the Sooners on your March Madness list. Virginia Virginia's dominance this season is remarkable and similar to Villanova's. Part of the ACC Conference, the Cavaliers are 13-1 in conference and 24-2 overall. The ACC is a notoriously difficult conference with regular Final Four® contenders like Duke, UNC, and more chomping on the bit every season. However, they have pulled ahead of the conference with a record that astounds many. No team in the ACC has remotely the conference or overall record that Virginia is holding. Therefore, the Cavaliers are a huge contender in this year's tournament, and they will hopefully secure their first National Championship in years. Duke Duke is a classic contender for the tournament. Their dominance over the years is rivaled only by a few teams. Duke it sitting at third in the ACC conference; however, the ACC conference is strong group of teams that always produces a myriad of prospects for the tournament. Duke is 21-5 overall and 9-4 in the conference. Therefore, Duke is an ACC team with the second best overall record. Their strong rivalry with UNC in addition to its solid historical legacy leaves Duke in the talks of Final Four® and National Championship matchups. Cincinnati Cincinnati is not a team to sleep on. It's obvious, as they're currently in the Top 5 in the country and leading the AAC Conference with ease. 12-1 and 23-3 overall, Cincinnati is not just thriving in a lukewarm AAC. This is the AAC's one major shot at a big run in the tournament. With Cincinnati plowing ahead of the competition, the team is sitting in the Top 10 partway through February. Many people will not have Cincinnati getting very far due to many other teams who have recent National Championships to bolster their resumes. This is a mistake - don't let the Bearcats go unnoticed. Arizona Arizona is leading the Pac-12 with an 11-3 conference record and 21-6 overall record. With Arizona St. continuing a decently successful season, it was looking like it'd be a fight between the two Arizona schools this college basketball season. However, Arizona showed that they're the better team going into tournament play. Not only did they beat Arizona State, but the team conquered other top contenders such as Texas A&M. Arizona could be another team some will sleep on going into March, but the Wildcats are the team to bet on coming out of Arizona this year. Xavier Xavier is a team that has creeped up the rankings throughout the season. A Big East contender, Xavier consistently plays in a strong conference known for its historical toughness. The Musketeers are 12-2 in the conference and 24-3 overall. In addition, the Musketeers have a perfect home game record of 16-0. Currently #4 in the country, Xavier is also not a team to choose after Villanova. Though Villanova might have the 2016 National Championship win behind them, Xavier could stand toe-to-toe with the Big East rival. Trae Young, Freshman Point Guard, Oklahoma Sooners Trae Young is a soon-to-be movie script about a young boy who shocked the country with his college basketball dominance during his freshman season. To make the plot sweeter, Young wasn't expected to excel at the level that he is. He now is leading in points per game with 29.9. The incredibly high number hints more at NBA stats than college basketball. Yet, Young continues to soar and prove that underestimation is never a safe bet. The Week of TG 32 It's the Week of TG 32: 32 teams advanced to the next round of our TG Fantasy Tournament! Apply to our TG College Basketball Experience and win 2 Men's Final Four® & National Championship tickets. Here are the 32 teams that advanced: 32 Weeks Ago: A Look Back at the 2017-2018 Men's College Basketball Season 32 weeks ago, students were just starting to embrace Summer 2017, and college basketball season was far from anyone's minds. However, like analysts do, sports broadcasters still had their opinions on the then-upcoming college basketball season. 32 Sundays ago, on June 25th, the standard favorites stuck on from the pack: Duke and Villanova came off fantastic 2016-2017 seasons. Fresher favorites also stood out: Arizona and Michigan State both had heavy talent and experience to back up their bolstering resumes. In an early prediction article by CBS Sports, all of these teams stood out as top contenders. However, teams that normally have history and reputation on their side ended up flying and crashing this season. In June 2017, many analysts would have put Kentucky and Louisville on the Road to the Big Dance. It's not that either team did awful during the season. In fact, both will certainly make their names known during the tournament. Yet scandal and ego will prevent either from making a major impact or spot in the National Championship. Rick Pitino continues to taint his own reputation, and Calipari has a poor habit to choose one-year sensations who don't stick around long enough to form a team dynamic. Both are desperately seeking validation near the beginning of March Madness. Yet, both teams were deep into the early prediction talks that would've taken place 32 weeks ago. It shows that reputation and historical success doesn't always translate to a solid season. Surprising teams that were off the radar in June include Tennessee and Alabama. Ironically, both are known for other sports' legacies more than men's basketball. Pat Summitt left her indelible mark on the Tennessee Lady Vols. Alabama's "Roll Tide" keeps steamrolling fellow football schools. However, both teams have made huge strides in men's basketball this season. Neither would have been ruled out in preseason discussions, but their surprising upsets have certainly put them farther ahead on the radar for March. The Week of TG 68 It's the Week of TG 68: we've released our 68 teams for the TG Fantasy Bracket! Apply to our TG College Basketball Experience and win 2 Men's Final Four® & National Championship tickets. 68 Years Ago: A Look Back at the Men's College Basketball Tournament National Champion: College City of New York Final Score: CCNY 71, Bradley 68 Final Four®: East: CCNY 78, N.C. State 73 West: Bradley 68, Baylor 66 This is a Cinderella story if there ever was one in men's college basketball. According to CBS Sports, CCNY went into the tournament unranked in the last two polls. However, the team went on to beat three Top 5 teams during the rounds. After taking N.C. State in a five-point win, CCNY beat No. 1 Bradley 71-68 in a nail-biter ending. Men's College Basketball Tournament Fun Facts:

TG 68 No. 1 Seed Picks: Villanova Purdue Virginia Duke Written by Jenna The Lockwood family arrived to Hartford's XL Center on Saturday afternoon to see The Harlem Globetrotters do what they do best: entertain audiences across the globe with basketball tricks and contagious humor. However, the Lockwoods weren't your average family attending the game. They won the Ticket Galaxy #GalaxysStars Experience for the Globetrotters. This VIP-level Experience included Magic Passes to play on the XL Court and meet the players before the show, the Game Ball Presentation, and free VIP seats near all of the action. Sandra Lockwood entered into the contest and won for her family. Her husband John Lockwood, son Brayden Lockwood, and his two friends joined Ticket Galaxy on Saturday. Brayden is a basketball player himself, watching games from the Globetrotters to the Hartford Hawks to the UCONN Huskies. His friends in attendance have played on the same AAU team as him for the past two years, and each of them holds a deep relationship with the sport. "I just wanted to thank you so much for making this Experience even more special for the boys!" said Sandra Lockwood. Before the game began, the Magic Pass portion allowed the Lockwoods to meet some of the Globetrotters including learning basketball tricks and shooting on the court.
The group of five was then taken behind-the-scenes to join the Ticket Galaxy Meet-and-Greet where Globetrotters Primetime, Turbo, and Moose took photos with Ticket Galaxy employees and the Experience winners.
This led up to the beginning of the game for the Game Ball Presentation. Brayden and his friends presented the game ball right before the Globetrotters officially took the court against the Washington Generals. The family then took their seats and watched the Globetrotters entertain the audience with skits, tricks, and goofy stunts. Thank you to the Lockwood family and friends for joining us on Saturday!

Our Top 10 Favorite Lorde Songs: 10. “Glory and Gore” “Glory and Gore” is a song off of Lorde’s debut album Pure Heroine. The song is intense and animalistic, showing a growing, fiery ferocity throughout the song. There are also nods to boxing. With the head-jerker lyric, “Do you even want to go free? Let me in the ring; I’ll show you what the big word means,” Lorde stares head-on at any competition in her way. This song perfectly demonstrates her mature and critical teenage lens of Pure Heroine. 9. “Homemade Dynamite” “Homemade Dynamite” is the shiniest song on Lorde’s sophomore album Melodrama. Now out of her teenage years and stumbling through her twenties, Melodrama focuses a lot on heartbreak, partying, and the observations collected from Lorde’s typical twentysomething experiences. “Homemade Dynamite” describes the destructive nature of reckless partying and no-regrets lifestyles. Its beat draws in a crowd and makes a listener want to “blow shit up with homemade dynamite” along with her. 8. “Sober” “Sober” is a more critical viewpoint of partying. With less carelessness and more observation, “Sober” discusses the standard scenes from a party, but asks the important question: “But what will we do when we’re sober?” Many twentysomethings don’t take the step back from their youth to understand the positives and negatives, but Lorde enjoys herself while also carefully understanding the deeper reasoning behind her actions. 7. “Team” “Team” is a hit from Pure Heroine. The song is about an unglamorous upbringing that Lorde enjoys with real friends and a lack of luxury. Her message attacks the focus on materialism and wealth in a sneakier way than “Royals.” There’s a support for the “cities we’ll never see on the screen” and those who “aren’t very pretty, but we sure know how to run free.” A lack of constraint and lack of fakeness welcomes Lorde’s world and those in it. “I’m pretty tired of being asked to throw my hands up in the air… so there” is a direct diss at club and dance music culture. “Team” is a hit about her team or squad, done so eloquently that one can glaze over the message. 6. “Perfect Places” “Perfect Places” is another airy, popcentric hit on Melodrama. It is one of the album’s singles, and it also considers the reasonings behind drinking and going out. “All the nights spent off our faces trying to find these perfect places. What the fuck are perfect places anyways?” This is arguably one of the most poignant lines of the entire album. Many chase a high in order to feel something lacking from standard life or that “perfect place.” Lorde acknowledges her newfound singledom: “Every night, I live and die, meet somebody, take them home.” This is in addition to her age and desire to go out. These fun moments aren’t without her reflection, and “Perfect Places” is born from a collage of hangovers and smeared lipstick. 5. “Magnets” “Magnets” is a song by Daft Punk that features Lorde. Though this is not remotely one of her most popular songs, this is underratedly a simmering banger. It’s about a woman who falls in a relationship with a man while also watching him in a relationship with another woman. The song drips with lust, jealousy, and sex. “Magnets” is some of Lorde’s steamier work that demonstrated the brink of her womanhood. 4. “Hard Feelings/Loveless” “Hard Feelings/Loveless” demonstrates Lorde’s comments after her breakup as well as her opinions on modern-day romance on Melodrama. “Hard Feelings” focuses on the difficulties of letting go and moving on from someone after a breakup, leaving someone with hard feelings. “Loveless” is the piece that follows, discussing a generation of lovers who mess with each other but don’t commit. In an era of Tinder and casual hookup culture, her pointed stance is refreshing, as she’s entered that world newly single. 3. “White Teeth Teens” “White Teeth Teens” is a Pure Heroine song about popularity and partying during the teenage years. The phrase “white teeth teens” describes the beautiful and happy enjoying nights out like a prepared play: each step in place. However, Lorde executes a narrator switch throughout the song. Beginning as part of a “we,” she later unveils that she’s not a “white teeth teen” after trying. This touches on the force shield of social status; something that is not a formula but rather often given without rhyme or reason. Those who don’t make the cut left on the outside. 2. “Tennis Court” “Tennis Court” dissects teenage Lorde’s disdain and jaded sense of her youth off of Pure Heroine. While everyone is out enjoying themselves, Lorde already feels maturely past it, ready for whatever is next. She abandons the standard youth in order to chase her dreams without regret, mocking the beauty queens and class clowns that are swallowed up in the he-said-she-said of high school. It’s another song from Pure Heroine that sounds smoother than the actual lyrical meaning. 1. "Liability” “Liability” is Lorde’s most sensitive and intimate song on either album. It is a slow piano ballad that lets listeners into the aftermath of her breakup. In all of its sadness, Lorde discusses her storm-like personality and her difficulty in finding and maintaining close relationships with others. Whether this is due to her personality or fame, Lorde reflects the downsides of her situation. The deeply-personal song feels more like a diary, and it once again demonstrates her ability to progress and, more importantly, her ability to skillfully reflect in her music. Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons At age 32, Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons is one of the most successful quarterbacks in the NFL. He played for Boston College and is currently in his tenth NFL season. With almost 3,500 yards and 18 touchdowns, Ryan is a leading figure in the league. Ryan and the Falcons are out for revenge this year, as last year’s Super Bowl LI loss to the New England Patriots in a shocking finish left the team with a point to prove. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions Matthew Stafford played at one of the top college football programs in the country: the Georgia Bulldogs. He is in his 9th season in the NFL and plays for the Detroit Lions. With almost 4,000 yards and 25 touchdowns, Stafford is a major reason that the Lions are slowly becoming a team to reckon with. Stafford was the Lions’ first-overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. Stafford experienced a hand injury scare earlier in December, but it was then confirmed that his hand was merely bruised and not broken. Stafford and the Lions will try to make their way into the playoffs this year. Case Keenum, Minnesota Vikings Case Keenum is the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings. Keenum played for Houston and is in his fifth season in the NFL. Completing more than 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns, Keenum only has one fumble on the entire season so far. He has played for the Texans and Rams before beginning his first season with the Vikings this year. The Vikings are 11-3, including a solid winning streak that puts the Vikings in potential Super Bowl territory. Keenum replaced injured Sam Bradford in Week 2, and he has led the team in impressive fashion. Keenum’s creativity and confidence are main reasons why his performance has sparked rave reviews. As a substitute or back-up, many normally expect a letdown or transition period. Keenum wowed all, and his participation on the team is essential to the remainder of their season. Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs Alex Smith is the quarterback for the stellar Kansas City Chiefs. He went to the University of Utah and is in his 13th season. He has almost 3,750 yard and 25 touchdowns so far this season. Smith played on the San Francisco 49ers before playing for the Kansas City Chiefs beginning in 2013. After beginning the season with a major, surprising win against the Patriots, the Chiefs are 8-6 and leading the AFC West. Kirk Cousins, Washington Redskins Kirk Cousins is the QB of the Washington Redskins, and he is in his sixth NFL season. He played college football at Michigan State before beginning his NFL career on the Redskins. With over 3,500 yards and 24 touchdowns for the season so far, Cousins is a major topic of conversation on the NFL Top QB subject. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott is a true tale of overcoming doubts in order to prove one’s talent. Prescott took over for an injured Tony Romo, the beloved Dallas Cowboys QB who officially retired in 2017. Prescott’s rookie season was tremendous, impressing fans and fellow players alike during a major time of need. Prescott then returned for his sophomore season aiming to not enter a sophomore slump. Prescott played at Mississippi State before joining the NFL. With almost 3,000 yards, he might not numerically be as prestigious as the other QBs in the category. However, with 21 TDs and a solid sophomore season, Prescott is looking at a long career ahead of him on the Cowboys. Jared Goff, LA Rams Jared Goff is the QB for the Los Angeles Rams. This teams has been through a lot this year, now sharing facilities with the new Los Angeles Chargers while both teams settle into the same city. He has over 3,500 yards for the season and 24 touchdowns. After playing for University of California, Goff began his career on the Los Angeles Rams. This is also a newbie player, as this is his 2nd season in the NFL. There are promising seasons ahead for Goff. The Rams are leading the NFC West 10-4. Notable Mentions: Tom Brady, New England Patriots They don’t call him the GOAT for nothing. Brady is obviously a consistent choice for top QB due to his legacy on the New England Patriots. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints Drew Brees is most likely Brady’s top rival of the South. The New Orleans Saints are leading the NFC South with a 10-4 record, and Brees will try to get his team back to the Super Bowl to potentially play a dangerous Patriots. For decades, the Globetrotters combine excellent basketball talent and entertaining personalities to bring a family-friendly experience to the court. Here are six Globies who are worth talking about: 6. Sweet Lou Dunbar: Coach Sweet Lou Dunbar is a major figurehead in The Harlem Globetrotters’ history. He is the Director of Player Personnel, and it is his 40th season with the Globetrotters. Sweet Lou is from Minden, Louisiana and graduated from the University of Houston. He played with The Harlem Globetrotters before returning to coach them, as well. Sweet Lou was chosen in the fourth round of the NBA Draft in 1975, going to the Philadelphia 76ers. The Globetrotters discovered Sweet Lou during a Houston Rockets summer pro league. In addition to his lengthy career on The Globetrotters, he is one of a handful of players to receive the “Legends” status on the team. Sweet Lou defines The Globetrotters more than anyone else. 5. Moose: 6’8” Forward Moose Weekes is a forward from Lilburn, GA. He graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2005, but his love of basketball began when he was a child being raised by a single mother. She too was a basketball player and passed on the love of the game to her son. He led the team in blocked shots as a freshman and broke the school’s record for most blocks in a game. 4. Big Easy: 6’9” Showman Big Easy Lofton is also a Showman for The Harlem Globetrotters. He was born in New Orleans, LA and graduated from the Southeastern Louisiana University in 2005. Big Easy received his nickname due to his easygoing nature and sparkling personality. Big Easy holds the Guinness World Records for the farthest basketball hook shot and farthest blindfolded basketball hook shot. Big Easy evacuated New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, and while he was in Houston, he was given a Globetrotters tryout. From there, his Globetrotters career was born. Big Easy led his college team in blocks, steals, rebounds, and assists. He was part of Southeastern Louisiana University’s first-ever NCAA tournament appearance in 2005. 3. Ace: 5’4” Guard Ace is one of four female players the current roster. This demonstrates progression within The Harlem Globetrotters organization. The team used to be only male basketball stars, but the system has moved past the gender secularity it in recent years. Ace grew up in Harrisburg, PA and graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University in California in 2012. She transferred to Point Loma from Savannah State University for her junior year. Ace is the 13th woman to wear a Globetrotters uniform. As a child, she fought to learn basketball. According to her bio on The Harlem Globetrotters website, Ace recalls, “At first, [my father] told me, ‘No,’ because I was too short and a girl. Once I threatened to tell my mom on him, he had a change of heart and started to train me.” 2. Too Tall: 5’2” Guard Too Tall is a guard from Baltimore, MD who graduated from CCBC Catonsville in 2003. He is the shortest player in Globetrotters history, and his love for basketball began when he received his first basketball at age six. A major influence in Too Tall’s career is Early Boykins who was also short and used his determination to become a majorly successful basketball player. 1. Ant: 5’9” Showman Ant is a Showman for The Harlem Globetrotters due to his energy and fun personality. In addition, Ant is known for his ball-handling expertise and chemistry with his fellow players. As a Showman, Ant helps commentate and orchestrate each show. Ant was born in Wilson, NC. He went to school at Barton College and is known for one of the greatest comebacks in college basketball history. He scored 10 points in 39 seconds to win 77-75 in the NCAA Division II National Championship Game. The performance sparked major interest on YouTube, and it was runner-up at the 2007 ESPY Awards for Best Finish. Ant was the first-ever player drafted in the Globetrotters’ inaugural player draft in 2007. Therefore, he is a major player on the current Globetrotters roster. Taylor Swift released her album ‘reputation’ in November. After three years since her first official pop album ‘1989,’ Swift remained silent throughout an onslaught of drama that, well, tarnished her reputation. Enter the New Taylor: in love and caring less what you think about her than ever before. Her lead single “Look What You Made Me Do” is a clapback at the haters and also a reminder of her place on top of the pop throne. The music video ends with multiple Old Taylors arguing, spewing standard critiques of Swift in the media. Each Old Taylor represents a pivotal point in her career, from the 2009 VMA dress to the “You Belong With Me” music video costume. In “Look What You Made Me Do,” she states, “I’m sorry, the Old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh, ‘cause she’s dead.” This is the declaration of ‘reputation’ that led into her album release. Though the singles caused questions among music critics, the overall review of ‘reputation’ remained constant: the singles distracted from a solid pop album. Swift presents herself as a typical twentysomething woman dealing with flings, judgement, accusations, friendships, disappointment, identity, and love. ‘reputation’ Tracklist:

There are so many to choose from, but we want to know whether ‘Elf,’ ‘A Christmas Story’, or ‘Frozen’ is your favorite! These three movies can also be seen onstage in their theatrical versions, demonstrating the popularity of all three hit films. ‘Elf’ is the Christmas version of ‘Mean Girls.’ Three high school brats vs. an adult-sized elf… seems like a stretch? The two iconic movies are similar in more ways than you’d think. Both began as overly-goofy commentaries on high school and Christmas traditions. Starring major comedians like Amy Poehler and Tina Fey or Will Ferrell, the cast could promote the movie by name association only. ‘Elf’ is an endearing story of an orphaned child who finds himself at the North Pole after he sneaks into Santa’s sleigh. Buddy the Elf grows up at the North Pole as an elf, learning to make toys. However, he doesn’t realize he’s human until his size and poor toy-making skills set him apart. Buddy travels to New York to find his birth father and begins to spread Christmas joy throughout the city. A story of faith, love, identity, and spirit, ‘Elf’ touched the hearts of viewers and continues to be a major Christmas move staple. ‘Elf: The Musical’ is now a theatrical version of the movie, touring the country during the holiday season. It brings the beloved story to the stage for a unique experience unlike the Ferrell movie version. Quirky and humorous, ‘Elf: The Musical’ is a special way to celebrate the joy of the holidays. https://www.ticketgalaxy.com/performers/elf-the-musical ‘A Christmas Story’ is a quirky film that began as a low-budget production and transformed into a classic Christmas film. It is about a Ralphie Parker, a man who reflects on his Christmas when he was nine years old, and he narrates the story. The movie is a series of vignettes that center on Ralphie’s desire to get a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle for Christmas. Though his mother and other characters are against it, his dad “The Old Man” surprises him by hiding the rifle under the tree. When Ralphie first tries out the rifle, the bullet ricochets and breaks his glasses. Other vignettes, including “The Battle of the Lamp” over The Old Man’s major award trophy: a lamp in the shape of a woman’s leg, flesh out the remainder of the humorous story. Get ‘A Christmas Story’ tickets at Ticket Galaxy and enjoy the classic Christmas movie in its theatrical form! https://www.ticketgalaxy.com/performers/a-christmas-story ‘Frozen’ is a Disney movie that began a new surge for Disney princesses. ‘Frozen’ was released in 2013 and starred Broadway phenome Idina Menzel and well-known actress Kristin Bell. Princesses and sisters Anna and Elsa become estranged, as Elsa develops icy powers that are misunderstood. She is banished from the kingdom and puts the land in an everlasting winter due to her upset anger. The story involves many classic snow creatures including Olaf the Snowman and Sven the Reindeer. Anna ventures to find her sister, and lessons of family, love, and loyalty unfold. It is a Disney princess tale that includes feminist undertones that truly make it a step into the 21st century for Disney. ‘Frozen’ broke box office records and quickly became a major force in the animation film sector. ‘Frozen: The Musical’ continues the storyline onto the stage. Coming to Broadway for the first time in February 2018, ‘Frozen: The Musical’ will take over St. James Theatre on Broadway. The Broadway previews begin in February, and the musical opens in March. https://www.ticketgalaxy.com/performers/frozen-the-musical On the 2nd day of XMAS, Ticket Galaxy Gave To Me… …Two Teams That Dunk & A Festive Promo Sent With Glee! Our Two Teams That Dunk features the Boston Celtics vs. Washington Wizards matchup taking place on Christmas Day at the TD Garden in Boston, MA. The NBA is known for their Christmas Day game. Much like NFL during Thanksgiving, the NBA features one iconic matchup every year the entertain all of the festival-goers relaxing and celebrating the day with family and friends. The Boston Celtics were founded in 1946 and merged into the NBA in 1949. They drafted the first African American professional basketball player. Coach Red Auerbach is a famous part of the Celtics’ history. Auerbach transformed the team’s fortune by making stellar trade deals and acquiring dynasty players. These players include Larry Bird, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and many more. They have won 17 NBA Championships. Recently, the Celtics signed former Cleveland Cavaliers’ player Kyrie Irving, a move that disrupted all of the NBA after the Golden State Warriors’ 2017 NBA Championship win over the Cavaliers. Irving is now setting forth a new Celtics generation for the 2017-2018 season, standing in front of the Eastern Conference. Washington Wizards were established in 1961 and play in Washington D.C. The team’s name was the Bullets until 1997 when they changed their name to the Wizards in order to stray from a name associated with gun violence. Before their establishment in Washington, the Wizards played in Baltimore and Chicago under different team names. The Wizards are also known for star player Michael Jordan, an icon in basketball. He played for the Wizards for fifteen years before retiring after the 2002-2003 season. In the 2016-2017 season, the Wizards won seventeen home games in a row. They entered the playoffs last season and lost in Game 7 to the Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Therefore, this Celtics vs. Wizards matchup is a replay of last season’s semifinals! Follow along on: Written by Jenna Women's Holiday Showcase Winner: John Rueb John Rueb is no stranger to basketball. His time on the court last night at Ticket Galaxy's Women's Holiday Showcase Experience Winner was a comfortable place, as he coaches girls' travel basketball during his spare time. "I started out with just a few girls on a team, then 10, and now I coach two teams that travel and compete," Rueb said proudly. The 2017 Women's Holiday Showcase featuring #1 UCONN vs. Oklahoma on a night special to any UCONN basketball fans. Head Coach Geno Auriemma won his 1,000th career game last night, as UCONN defeated Oklahoma 88-64. Auriemma is the quickest to reach the women's college basketball 1,000th win mark, and he has 11 UCONN Women's Basketball National Championships to back it up. Auriemma now joins the likes of Pat Summitt, Tara VanDerveer, and and Sylvia Hatchell: women's college basketball coaches to forge past their 1,000th win. Before all the celebration and speeches took place, Rueb faced his half-court shot at halftime. He just missed, knocking the backboard in an admirable attempt. "I've been a basketball fan for a long time," he said, "This is special to be a part of." The UCONN Women's team face the Memphis Tigers on New Year's Eve as their last home game of 2017. Men's Holiday Showcase Winner: Kevin McCabe Kevin McCabe traveled from outside of Philadelphia in order to see his beloved St. John's Red Storm team take the court at the Men's Holiday Showcase on Wednesday evening. "I have always been a St. John's fan," McCabe said, "My whole family is. I didn't go to the school myself, but St. John's basketball is definitely part of my upbringing." St. John's played St. Joseph's in a nail-biter that ended in a victory for the Red Storm 77-73. Ticket Galaxy is the Official Secondary Ticket Partner of the St. John's Red Storm. McCabe was filled with nervous excitement before taking the shot, making the Experience that much greater if he made the shot. "I belong to the Y and practiced a few half-court shots earlier this week," he said. After walking up to the half-court line, McCabe rimmed his shot. It was the closest attempt at a half-court shot during any of the Showcases this week. After McCabe, there was only one game left of the Men's Holiday Showcase. Men's Holiday Showcase Winner: Paul Lukomski Paul Lukomski wasn't at the Men's Holiday Showcase in support of Providence or Houston, but his original Big East roots shone through just the same. "I'm a huge UCONN fan," Lukomski said, "I got my doctorate at UCONN and do work with the UCONN radio station." When asked if he bleeds blue, the answer was simple: "Yes." Providence is an old Big East rival of UCONN prior to the conference's split when UCONN officially joined the American Athletic Conference (AAC). Houston, on the other hand, is a current AAC team with UCONN. The teams are therefore familiar to any longtime UCONN fan. Lukomski took his half-court attempt with less success. He unfortunately didn't hit the basket, but he held a good attitude throughout the entire time. Take That Shot: Basketball Hall Of Fame Tip-Off Tournament #GalaxysStars Experience Winner11/20/2017 ![]() Maria Altieri was one of the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-off Tournament #GalaxysStars Experience winners this past weekend. Altieri got to enjoy the entire tournament courtesy of Ticket Galaxy. However, the most exciting part of the Experience occurred at the half-court line. During the Springfield Bracket Championship Game on Sunday night, Altieri took a half-court shot to try to win free Ticket Galaxy tickets for a year. “I’m going to try and 'granny-shot' it,” Altieri said, chuckling and brainstorming methods that’d increase her chance of landing it near the basket. The championship game’s line-up was South Alabama vs. Saint Peter’s, following Texas Tech vs. Northwestern with a spirited Northwestern fan section. Northwestern scored a buzzer beater shot before halftime, bringing a thunder of applause throughout Mohegan Sun Arena. “I was there for that and wanted to say, ‘Excuse me, sir, I’m going to have to borrow you at around 8:45,'” Altieri said, laughing. ![]() Altieri unfortunately missed the shot, but the weekend’s tournament was something she said she enjoyed. Altieri brought her father to the Tip-off Tournament as her guest. “We just all watch sports together,” she said of her family. “My cousin actually used to work for UCONN for the basketball team. We grew up watching basketball.” When Altieri found out she had won the Experience, she was surprised to say the least. “I was like, ‘Is this real? Let me just try – why not?’” Altieri is one of a handful of #GalaxysStars Experience winners who will attempt a half-court shot for a BHOF college basketball event this season. The Women’s Holiday Showcase and Men’s Holiday Showcase are two major BHOF events that will happen in mid-December. The #GalaxysStars Experiences are currently open for both of those tournaments. Get a chance to see one of the events for free and take a half-court shot to win free tickets for a year! Apply here: https://www.ticketgalaxy.com/page/experiences Written by Jenna “I want to thank you,” said Christopher Britt, an Air Force Sergeant and Desert Storm Veteran. “This weekend is something I’ll remember for a lifetime. I can’t thank Ticket Galaxy enough for that.”
Britt arrived to Phoenix International Raceway on Friday afternoon on a different agenda than the thousands of other NASCAR fans that flooded the stands for Fall Race Weekend including the Ticket Galaxy 200. Ticket Galaxy 200: The Veteran Experiences Ticket Galaxy is the proud sponsor of the Ticket Galaxy 200 and Official Partner of Phoenix International Raceway. This year’s Ticket Galaxy 200 fell on Veteran’s Day. In celebration of the holiday and as a thank you for the veterans who have served, Ticket Galaxy chose two veterans to take part in the weekend’s Experiences with the help of VetTix. Britt was one of the veterans who won. “I was at a Rick Springfield concert with my wife when I got the email that I was chosen,” Britt said, “I started yelling ‘I got it! I got it!’” Britt has been a NASCAR fan for years after “a bunch of buddies got me into it.” “There’s nothing quite like making a left turn,” Britt said, followed by one of his warm, bellowing laughs. During race day, Britt enjoyed the exclusive Driver’s Meeting, Pre-Race Ceremony, Victory Lane, and green flag wave as the Honorary Starter. This was in addition to his own race weekend tickets for him and three family members and a Pace Car Ride on Sunday. Michael Kimbrell, the second winner and E-5 Army Sergeant veteran, participated in similar Experience activities including the Grand Marshal Car Ride before the race began. Fall Race Weekend and VetTix In regards to Fall Race Weekend, Phoenix International Raceway is a special place for NASCAR fans in the Phoenix area. “Coming out to this one, it is in your backyard.” Susanna Britt, Britt’s wife who joined the interview, agreed. “When you’re at the track, you can hear it, smell it, taste it. It’s up close and personal.” In addition to Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s last race in Phoenix, Fall Race Weekend’s electric atmosphere had a lot more to do with the passion of NASCAR community than anything else. According to the Britts, this is credited to the comradery in NASCAR. “You sit there on the campers, have some drinks, fire up the barbeque. It’s the full weekend, the banter back and forth, the camping.” That’s what makes the NASCAR community so loyal and strong. That’s what it is: a community who enjoys the competition as much as the play. VetTix is the organization that aided in selecting the veteran Experience winners. VetTix provides tickets and event opportunities to a confirmed database of veterans across the country. This ranges from Disney World trips to football game tickets. Thanks to donations from companies, teams, and financial donations from anyone willing to contribute, veterans and active military members get to enjoy events for free. Veteran's Day: A Holiday and A Topic Ticket Galaxy chose to celebrate Veteran’s Day in a special way to give thanks to so many who sacrifice for our country. When asked about the importance of Veteran’s Day, Britt said the best that people can do is be patriotic. “I wish it was called ‘American Day’ and not Veteran’s Day,” Britt said, “People don’t need to recognize us; just be proud of the country and be proud to be an American.” Mrs. Britt chimed in to add, “We may not be a perfect country, but we’re a good country.” The Britts seem to agree that glorifying veteran appreciation may have its downsides, but that the recognition and respect is always appreciated. Britt isn’t the first in his family to choose a life of military service. His father served in the military for 21 years, and his mother and middle sister are also in the military as well as his thirty-year-old son. In addition, Mrs. Britt’s family is heavily involved in military service. “Everybody in my family is very proud,” Britt said. “The experience that you get is different for each one.” Britt's Military Service Experiences Britt has had particularly unique experiences during his active service. “I was stationed in Berlin when the Berlin Wall fell. I spoke German at the time and asked someone what was going on. They said, ‘They’re taking down the wall!’ And I joined in.” He told me that there aren’t enough of those stories out in the world regarding active duty. Mrs. Britt agreed. “Focus on negativity, breed negativity,” she said. “There's so much more good in the world.” Inevitably, active duty is not sunshine, nor is it the darkest night. Britt was involved in the Gulf War and continues to deal with PTSD relating to sudden, loud noises. Since his Air Force mechanic days, he has a continued ringing in his ears. However, there are always these flickering, pure tales in Britt’s experiences. “Directly after the Gulf War, I was flying a Chinook helicopter with Italians into Iraq. We were taking Kurdish refugees to the hospitals. An old lady was having a hard time getting into the helicopter because she was holding a baby. I took the baby to help her get in, and as I gave the baby back, I saw a flash. Sure enough, a photographer captured the shot, and it landed in the Stars and Stripes newspaper. When I got back to my unit in Germany, it was hung on the wall.” Both Britt and Mrs. Britt are introspective and understanding regarding his experience. It was his job, they said. No bells or whistles or special fuss needed. #GalaxysStars Experience Winner In addition to the two veterans, Ticket Galaxy chose a Galaxy Experience Winner from the #GalaxysStars campaign. Melissa Shoemaker and Sheldon Shoemaker enjoyed the exclusive race activities including the Driver’s Meeting, Pre-Race Ceremony, Grand Marshal Car Ride, Race Weekend tickets, and Victory Lane. They joined Britt and Kimbrell throughout many of the Experience activities. Since his time in the military, Britt continues his mechanics career. He is a systems engineer at PF Changs and settled down in Arizona. Britt credits the military with giving him focus and discipline but also ambition. “I’d be flipping burgers if it wasn’t for my service,” he said. Furthermore, it’s changed his perspectives on his relationships as well. Loyalty and the standards level of his relationships are more important than ever. These, he said, are lessons that he wouldn’t have learned from a typical 9-5. Britt waved the Ticket Galaxy 200 Green Flag on Saturday in front of a crowd humming with excitement. This Veteran’s Day will be one to remember, full of checkered flags and the steady roar of the stockcars. “It’s the comradery,” Britt said, “That makes NASCAR fans so loyal.” Hear it. Smell it. Written by Tara ![]() During this year’s Frontier Communications American Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament in Hartford, CT, fans were offered a special opportunity to participate in the Ticket Galaxy Tournament Challenge. Several randomly selected contestants would have the chance to win $5,000, Free Tickets for a Year or a Gift Card to TicketGalaxy.com, all through a pre-determined contest that would take place during a stoppage of play each game. As a partner of the tournament, Ticket Galaxy was able to gain first-hand access, and interview each of their participants. Were they ready for their big moment? Did they make their shot? Well, let’s find out! Patrick - Free Tickets for a Year Our first featured contestant was the biggest winner of all. Patrick from Connecticut came to the tournament with his friends as a birthday gift. After being chosen from the stands to participate in the contest, Patrick shook his nerves and hit the court with full confidence. In less than 30 seconds Patrick made all three of the required shots - a layup, free throw and three pointer. His grand prize? Free tickets for a year on TicketGalaxy.com! After chatting with Patrick on what events he would choose to go to, he’s still deciding as there are a lot of difficult choices. Justin – Gift Card The next lucky contestant from the AAC Galaxy Giveaway was Justin from Connecticut. As a die-hard UConn fan, Justin has attended every local AAC tournament game in the past to show support for his favorite team. He was a basketball ball player growing up, so Justin was confident in his abilities to score all three shots. Low and behold Justin hit the jackpot, and ended up winning a $250 Ticket Galaxy gift card. ![]() Logan – Participant Finally, our concluding participant was Logan. He is a high school student who traveled all the way from New York to attend the AAC tournament on Friday, March 10th. Logan has two siblings who attend Southern Methodist University, so he was at the game to show his support, and deep rooted team spirit. Although Logan didn’t consider himself a great shooter, he made the lay-up, and free throw with ease. However, the three-pointer posed a problem for Logan, so he didn’t end up winning, but he showed gratitude, and enthusiasm during his interview. Some of the other participants were lucky enough to try for $5,000 by scoring a half-court shot. Although none of the contestants were able to hit the shot, Ticket Galaxy certainly gives them an A for effort, and they can’t wait to partner with the AAC Tournament again in the future.
