Veteran classic rockers Chicago and The Doobie Brothers have announced a co-headlining tour of North America. See the dates below.
The tour kicks off in early June in Concord, California and concludes at the Veterans United Home Loan Amphitheater in Virginia Beach in late July.
In a press release, Chicago’s Robert Lamm said that the tour is “the perfect summer lineup, playing dozens of the best-loved rockin’ pop classics.” Patrick Simmons, who plays guitar in The Doobie Brothers, added that there will be “some fun musical surprises along the way.” Fans have speculated that Simmons is hinting at the two groups performing select cuts together, as they have on previous tours.
Chicago, who celebrate their 50th anniversary as a band this year, were recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and have sold over 100 million albums worldwide (including 25 platinum albums and 21 Top 10 Singles). A documentary about the band, Now More Than Ever: The History of Chicago premiered on CNN on New Year’s Day.
The Doobie Brothers have been performing together for over four decades and have achieved more than 48 million albums sold worldwide. Their latest release, Southbound, features re-recordings of the band’s biggest hits alongside contemporary Country acts like Blake Shelton, The Zac Brown Band, Brad Paisley and Toby Keith.
