Houston Cougars vs. SMU Presented by Ticket Galaxy: Ticket Galaxy Partners with Boys & Girls Club Houston
Thursday night's Houston Cougars men's basketball home game was presented by Ticket Galaxy. Playing in-conference team SMU, the Cougars won 67-58. This makes the Cougars 11-0 at home and 18-5 this season.
However, the true highlight of the evening was in conjunction with the Houston community. Ticket Galaxy joined forces with Boys & Girls Club Houston to donate 30 tickets to the organization. In addition, Club Leader Carla Jones-Adams presented the game ball to Houston Athletic Director Chris Pezman.
Ticket Galaxy decided to collaborate with the Boys & Girls Club Houston because the company wanted to give back to a strong community that has been through so much over the past year. The Boys & Girls Club is an organization focused on the future generations, fostering safe and fun environments for children through after-school programs and more. A Cougars basketball game was a perfect fit as an outing for the members.
Congratulations on the Cougars' win, and thanks to everyone who made the night a success!

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Defending Super Bowl LI Winner the New England Patriots
The Jacksonville Jaguars are taking on the New England Patriots for the AFC Championship Game. After surging back to beat the Atlanta Falcons during Super Bowl LI, the Patriots once again proved their superstar status. Quarterback and arguable G.O.A.T. Tom Brady leads a developed team well-rehearsed in the art of winning and winning often. The Patriots' success is almost mocked in the NFL due to its consistency and enormity throughout the past decades. Aside from Brady, notable franchise players such as Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola help hold up a strong offensive line. The Patriots have won four Super Bowls since the new millennium including Super Bowl XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, and LI. The passionate New England fan base and talented roster makes for a deadly team year after year.

17. NBA Championship: King James Bows to Durant & Company
The 2017 NBA Championship was a showdown of two dominant NBA franchises: the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Lebron James, former Cavs player Kyrie Irving, and more star players stacked up on the Cavs bench. On the Warriors bench, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and Draymond Green created a dominant part of the starting lineup. During Game 1, the Warriors swept the Cavs 113-91. The results were similar for Game 2, leading Cavs fans to scratch their heads and create frown lines. When Game 3 also went to Durant & Co., the NBA Finals looked to be a bust. However, the Cavs pulled out a win in Game 4, keeping momentum moving into Game 5. The Cavs fell to the Warriors in Game 5 with a final score of 129-120.
The Warriors won their fifth franchise championship due to the leadership of Durant and Curry. Durant scored 39 points in Game 5, and Curry held up with 34 points. Though James was not quiet with an astounding 41 points, it wasn’t enough to make the NBA Finals a fighting series. The Warriors won on their home court Oracle Arena.
Get tickets to see both teams duke it out against this year with differing lineups and a legacy to maintain.
16. Beyoncé’s Twins
The Internet just about broke when Beyoncé finally announced her twins with an over-the-top pregnancy photo shoot. Months later, she gave birth to Rumi and Sir Carter in June, weeks before her husband JAY-Z’s 4:44album release. Talk about PR. Beyoncé’s African American female superstar status is cemented, and the social media hype around her new children is just another example showing her influence. Rumi and Sir Carter join older sister Blue Ivy in the now five-person family.
There’s no doubt: that family slays no matter what they’re focused on. Beyoncé’s baby bump was the talk of the year.

Women's Holiday Showcase Winner: John Rueb
John Rueb is no stranger to basketball. His time on the court last night at Ticket Galaxy's Women's Holiday Showcase Experience Winner was a comfortable place, as he coaches girls' travel basketball during his spare time.
"I started out with just a few girls on a team, then 10, and now I coach two teams that travel and compete," Rueb said proudly.
The 2017 Women's Holiday Showcase featuring #1 UCONN vs. Oklahoma on a night special to any UCONN basketball fans. Head Coach Geno Auriemma won his 1,000th career game last night, as UCONN defeated Oklahoma 88-64. Auriemma is the quickest to reach the women's college basketball 1,000th win mark, and he has 11 UCONN Women's Basketball National Championships to back it up. Auriemma now joins the likes of Pat Summitt, Tara VanDerveer, and and Sylvia Hatchell: women's college basketball coaches to forge past their 1,000th win.
Before all the celebration and speeches took place, Rueb faced his half-court shot at halftime. He just missed, knocking the backboard in an admirable attempt.
"I've been a basketball fan for a long time," he said, "This is special to be a part of."
The UCONN Women's team face the Memphis Tigers on New Year's Eve as their last home game of 2017.

‘Tis the season of giving, and spirits were high around the office leading up to Ticket Galaxy’s first annual holiday party. It was our mission to give Ticket Galaxy employees the chance to celebrate a successful year in the office while remembering the true meaning of the holidays: giving back.
Roughly two weeks prior to the party, employees were urged to bring in canned or non-perishable food items that would then be donated to our local food bank, Hands On Hartford. Before we knew it, our office was overflowing with donations.
When it was time to make the delivery to Hands On Hartford, we showed up with a utility van full of items. The donated items totaled to weigh over 780 LBS! Without the help of our generous employees, this would not have been possible, so thank you to everyone who helped us bring joy to families within our community.
Have a happy holiday – we look forward to more opportunities like this in the New Year.

"Nobody pray for me... even a day for me..." This year of music rivaled the prior year in a beastly manner that brought to light political and social viewpoints as well as progressions in individual genre stylings. The tumultuous nature of 2016 and 2017 encouraged artists to speak up through their craft. Fans saw many standing for a cause or merely adding to their catalog of music in new and interesting ways. From Kendrick Lamar's first line of "HUMBLE." to Logic, Alessia Cara, and Khalid's thoughtful "1-800-273-8255," artists everywhere made statements.
This was not an easy feat after last year's Grammys featured the likes of Beyoncé's Lemonade and her sister Solange's A Seat at the Table. The 59th Grammys also revived powerhouse vocalist Adele with 25. However, 2017's artistry did not disappoint amongst its fierce and recent competitors. Bruno Mars brought the entire country to its feet for 24K Magic, an album that sounded more like a groovy, '80s R&B record than a contemporary album. Kendrick Lamar hovered between pop and hip-hop for DAMN., an album that shows off his raw talent as much as his storytelling abilities. JAY-Z resurfaced for a reflective 4:44, shedding the toughest of his skins to reveal remorse, maturity, and the importance of family in a post-Lemonade era.
Then there were new bouts of talent on the rise. Khalid released American Teen that handles the usual topics of love, heartbreak, and growing pains but in a unique vocal tone that cast him in the up-and-coming spotlight. However, the most satisfying New Artist nominee goes to SZA: the first female R&B artist under Top Dawg Entertainment. For hip-hop fans, this label sticks out due to its connections with Dr. Dre, Eminem, and more major hip-hop sharks throughout the decades. SZA's debut album CTRL is a raw, unapologetic look into the life of a twentysomething. This includes a tumultuous love life and complicated relationship with self-love and self-worth.
The 60th Grammys will take place on Sunday, January 28th. Here are the 60th Grammys Nomination highlights:

“Redbone” — Childish Gambino

The King of Bachata, Romeo Santos announced a North American tour in support of his latest album Golden to go on sale Friday, November 24, 2017.
Since Aventura hit pause, the front man has been busy churning out chart toppers and selling out stadiums. In 2014, Santos grabbed another number one slot – the first Latin Solo artist to sell out Yankee Stadium for two consecutive nights. Santos’ admiration of Bachata fuels his personal style, despite the fact that it wasn't trendy when he was growing up in the Bronx. “The King” has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry but remains true to his first love – Bachata, bringing other artists into his world to produce an organic sound.
The New York native will kick off his “Golden” tour with a home town show February 15, 2018 at Madison Square Garden and will conclude April 6, 2018 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA.

Maria Altieri was one of the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-off Tournament #GalaxysStars Experience winners this past weekend. Altieri got to enjoy the entire tournament courtesy of Ticket Galaxy. However, the most exciting part of the Experience occurred at the half-court line.
During the Springfield Bracket Championship Game on Sunday night, Altieri took a half-court shot to try to win free Ticket Galaxy tickets for a year.
“I’m going to try and 'granny-shot' it,” Altieri said, chuckling and brainstorming methods that’d increase her chance of landing it near the basket.
The championship game’s line-up was South Alabama vs. Saint Peter’s, following Texas Tech vs. Northwestern with a spirited Northwestern fan section.
Northwestern scored a buzzer beater shot before halftime, bringing a thunder of applause throughout Mohegan Sun Arena.
“I was there for that and wanted to say, ‘Excuse me, sir, I’m going to have to borrow you at around 8:45,'” Altieri said, laughing.
Altieri unfortunately missed the shot, but the weekend’s tournament was something she said she enjoyed.
Altieri brought her father to the Tip-off Tournament as her guest. “We just all watch sports together,” she said of her family. “My cousin actually used to work for UCONN for the basketball team. We grew up watching basketball.”
When Altieri found out she had won the Experience, she was surprised to say the least. “I was like, ‘Is this real? Let me just try – why not?’”
Altieri is one of a handful of #GalaxysStars Experience winners who will attempt a half-court shot for a BHOF college basketball event this season.
The Women’s Holiday Showcase and Men’s Holiday Showcase are two major BHOF events that will happen in mid-December. The #GalaxysStars Experiences are currently open for both of those tournaments.

A Conversation with Christopher Britt: Ticket Galaxy 200's Honorary Starter and Veteran Experience Winner
“I want to thank you,” said Christopher Britt, an Air Force Sergeant and Desert Storm Veteran. “This weekend is something I’ll remember for a lifetime. I can’t thank Ticket Galaxy enough for that.”
Britt arrived to Phoenix International Raceway on Friday afternoon on a different agenda than the thousands of other NASCAR fans that flooded the stands for Fall Race Weekend including the Ticket Galaxy 200.
Ticket Galaxy 200: The Veteran Experiences
Ticket Galaxy is the proud sponsor of the Ticket Galaxy 200 and Official Partner of Phoenix International Raceway. This year’s Ticket Galaxy 200 fell on Veteran’s Day.
In celebration of the holiday and as a thank you for the veterans who have served, Ticket Galaxy chose two veterans to take part in the weekend’s Experiences with the help of VetTix. Britt was one of the veterans who won.
“I was at a Rick Springfield concert with my wife when I got the email that I was chosen,” Britt said, “I started yelling ‘I got it! I got it!’” Britt has been a NASCAR fan for years after “a bunch of buddies got me into it.”
“There’s nothing quite like making a left turn,” Britt said, followed by one of his warm, bellowing laughs.
During race day, Britt enjoyed the exclusive Driver’s Meeting, Pre-Race Ceremony, Victory Lane, and green flag wave as the Honorary Starter. This was in addition to his own race weekend tickets for him and three family members and a Pace Car Ride on Sunday. Michael Kimbrell, the second winner and E-5 Army Sergeant veteran, participated in similar Experience activities including the Grand Marshal Car Ride before the race began.
