Abel Tesfaye (also known as The Weeknd) has announced “phase one” of a 2017 world tour in support of his upcoming album, Starboy.
The run starts April 25th in Vancouver, BC at the Rogers Arena and concludes June 9th in Cincinnati, OH at the US Bank Arena. The tour’s flyer promises “surprise special guests” to be announced at a later date. Starboy is due November 25th and will follow 2015’s Beauty Behind the Madness. During a Saturday Night Live performance, Tesfaye premiered two new songs, “Starboy” and “False Alarm.” French electronic pioneers Daft Punk are credited on “Starboy” and are slated to appear elsewhere on the album. According to a profile of Tesfaye in The Wall Street Journal, the album was inspired by the deaths of David Bowie and Prince, the title being a nod to Bowie’s iconic 1972 song “Starman.” For the full list of tour dates, Click Here.
