It’s a new season, a new month and we have plenty of new music to listen to. Here is a round-up of songs that graced our ears over the last few days.

Harry Styles, “Sign of the Times” – In a completely different Direction from Zayn, Louis and Niall, Styles channels his inner Bowie, Lennon, and Elton John on his track “Sign of the Times”. It opens as a piano balled before being joined with the rest of the band taking on a very “Hey Jude” feel. Singing “Just stop your crying, it’s a sign of the times. We gotta get away from here”. In a word, this song is catchy. Not your typical pop song of these times with heavy production, auto tune and other effects, it is simplistic with the same chords repeating throughout the song allowing for an easy listen.

French Montana & Future, “No Pressure” –Montana has already released a few standalone tracks, “Said N Done” featuring A$AP Rocky, “Hold Up” featuring Chris Brown and Migos and “Can’t Feel My Face” featuring Diddy. “No Pressure” utilizes a heavy bass and a heavy auto tune over French Montana while he and Future take on their un-named enemies on this solid track.

Frank Ocean feat. Jay Z & Tyler the Creator, “Biking” – The surprises keep coming from Frank Ocean, having already debuted “Chanel” on his Beats 1 show, blondedRADIO Ocean surprised fans with yet another new song this time featuring Jay Z and Tyler the Creator. The song opens with a piano, which doesn’t necessarily match the speed of Jay Z on his verse. The song picks up a bit for Ocean and Tyler the Creator’s parts however it feels like a completely different song than the first minute. Either way, Frank Ocean could sing the phone book and we’d happily listen (and swoon).

Halsey, “Now or Never” – Off her sophomore album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom this electro-pop song is the perfect backdrop for Halsey’s ever steady voice. The track also has a stellar production team behind it with Cashmere Cat (Ariana Grande, The Weeknd), Happy Perez (Mariah Carey, Miguel), and Benny Blanco (Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran) all being given credit.

Calvin Harris feat. Young Thug, Ariana Grande & Pharell, “Heatstroke” – number 2 of 10? We’re holding Calvin Harris to his promise for 10 songs for 2017. Harris also stated he worked with the “greatest artists of our generation” his first song featured Frank Ocean and Migos and now “Heatstroke” is jam packed with Young Thug, Ariana Grande and Pharell. Is it too early to crown a song the song of the summer? This light and fun, Motown-inspired jam makes you want to be outside soaking up the sun! So far Harris has kept his promises now we just want to know, who will be on song number 3??

Do you have a favorite new song already? Did we miss one that your loving currently? Tell us in the comment section and we’ll be sure to check it out!

Artists We Want to Hear From in 2017

It’s March. The New Year is more than officially underway and while new music has been pouring in since the start of the year there are notable names missing from the “new music” section. Here is a short list of artists we would like to see drop an album before the ball the drops again for 2018:

Taylor Swift – It is as if she is teasing the world, Tay-Tay and Zayne released “I Don’t Want to Live Forever”, a duet off of the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack and the video sent people into a tailspin. Reports began circulating back in 2016 that Taylor was hard at work on a follow up album to her pop smash, 1989 and had songs aimed right at ex, Tom Hiddleston. But when would she release it? There were theories she would follow her pattern of releasing new albums every other October which would have meant she needed to drop it back in 2016 however those rumors clearly proved to be unfounded. Even sadder still, while performing at a pre-Super Bowl concert Taylor was quoted as saying “By coming to this show tonight, you are attending 100 percent of this year’s tour dates”. Say it ain’t so!

Justin Timberlake – His hit “Can’t Stop the Feeling” was nominated for an Oscar and he’s now a credited film composer (The Book of Love starring wife, Jessica Biel).  But aside from these two projects not much has been said in regards to a new album from Justin’s camp. What we do know is that he was in the studio with Pharrell which oddly enough, led to a collaboration with country group, Little Big Town. JT sings on their song “C’mon” off of their album, Wanderlust released in the summer of 2016. With this collaboration and having performed at the CMAs with Chris Stapleton, could he pull a reverse Taylor Swift and hit us with a country album next? After his performance at the Oscars it is clear Mr. Timberlake still has more than enough energy to fill a stage. Here’s hoping 2017 is the year of JT!

Britney Spears – With her 9th album receiving the best reviews she’s gotten in years, it is no surprise that Brit-Brit jumped right back into the studio for album number 10. There were hopes that her time at the Axis Theater in Planet Hollywood were coming to an end due to not having any shows scheduled past April that would open the door for a world tour, but, Ms. Spears just recently extended her mega-successful run with shows out through September of 2017. On the bright side? She has been photographed in a studio and she is rumored to be working with hit producer, Calvin Harris.

Calvin Harris – During a Q & A session on his Twitter back in January, a fan asked if he would release any songs this year and he answered with ‘10’. Quite the tall order for a man who considers himself more of a singles guy. He then went on a tweet spree in February explaining how excited he was to share “feel INCREDIBLE music” and that he “worked with the greatest artists of our generation”. He’s already got one song out, “Slide” featuring Frank Ocean and Migos. Other rumored collaborations? The aforementioned Britney Spears, Ariana Grande, and Kanye West. 1 down, 9 more to go!
