The 2017 Academy of Country Music Awards aired last night on CBS live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Hosted by Luke Bryan and Dirks Bentley for the 2nd year in a row, Bryan had previously hosted with pal Blake Shelton until Bentley took over last year. The duo also each performed (multiple times) and shared a slideshow of their night out in Vegas which included both men going shirtless for a photo with the men from “Thunder from Down Under”. Who took home the biggest awards of the night? Jason Aldean was named Entertainer of the Year for the second year in a row while Miranda Lambert won for Album of the Year, Song of the Year went to Thomas Rhett for his hit “Die a Happy Man”. Rhett also may have had the most shocking moment of the night when he was called on stage for Male Vocalist of the Year beating out Christ Stapleton and Keith Urban. Little Big Town took home the hardware for Vocal Group of the Year while Florida Georgia Line took home Singer Record of the Year for “H.O.L.Y.” and Vocal Event of the Year for “May We All” featuring Tim McGraw. McGraw performed with wife, Faith Hill for their first TV performance of “Speak to a Girl”. For his part, McGraw seemed to also enjoy the performance by Florida Georgia Line and The Backstreet Boys, he had quite the fan girl (or shall we boy?) moment when the 90’s boyband took the stage. The duo and the quintet closed the show and gave a small hint as to what their upcoming joint tour will be like. They hit the road for select dates this summer along with rapper, Nelly. Other stellar performances included Lady Antebellum’s performance for their new hit “You Look Good”, Miranda Lambert’s somber, “Tin Man” and Little Big Town’s “Happy People” that had the quartet down rhinestones for a throwback, hippie inspired performance. 2017 Academy of Country Music Awards Winners: ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR Jason Aldean — winner Luke Bryan Florida Georgia Line Carrie Underwood Keith Urban MALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR Jason Aldean Dierks Bentley Thomas Rhett — winner Chris Stapleton Keith Urban FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR Kelsea Ballerini Miranda Lambert — winner Maren Morris Kacey Musgraves Carrie Underwood VOCAL DUO OF THE YEAR Big & Rich Brothers Osborne — winner Dan + Shay Florida Georgia Line Maddie & Tae VOCAL GROUP OF THE YEAR Eli Young Band Lady Antebellum Little Big Town — winner Old Dominion Rascal Flatts NEW MALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR Kane Brown Chris Janson Chris Lane Jon Pardi — winner Brett Young NEW FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR Lauren Alaina Cam Brandy Clark Maren Morris — winner NEW VOCAL DUO OR GROUP OF THE YEAR A Thousand Horses Brothers Osborne — winner Dan + Shay LOCASH Maddie & Tae ALBUM OF THE YEAR “Black” Dierks Bentley “Dig Your Roots” Florida Georgia Line “Hero” Maren Morris “Ripcord” Keith Urban “The Weight of These Wings” Miranda Lambert — winner SINGLE RECORD OF THE YEAR “Blue Ain’t Your Color” Keith Urban “H.O.L.Y.” Florida Georgia Line — winner “Humble and Kind” Tim McGraw “My Church” Maren Morris “Vice” Miranda Lambert SONG OF THE YEAR “Blue Ain’t Your Color” Keith Urban (written by Clint Lagerberg, Hillary Lindsey, Steven Lee Olsen) “Die A Happy Man” Thomas Rhett (written by Thomas Rhett, Sean Douglas, Joe London) — winner “Humble and Kind” Tim McGraw (written by Lori McKenna) “Kill A Word” Eric Church feat.
